When it comes to desert adventures, Zerzura Experiences in the stunning Mleiha Desert truly stands apart. Over the years, I’ve tried standard desert safaris, but this year I discovered something entirely different. I had the privilege of visiting twice, and each offered a unique blend of adventure, luxury, and tranquility.
The Experiences
My first adventure included an exhilarating dune buggy ride through golden sands, stopping at iconic landmarks like Fossil Rock and Camel Rock. As the sun set, we enjoyed a magical falcon show, a live BBQ private dinner, and a fire show. My second adventure was an intimate overnight glamping experience under a full moon. It coincided with the Geminid meteor shower—a surreal and humbling moment.
Mleiha Archaeological and Eco-tourism Project
Zerzura’s adventures are also a journey into natural history. Fossil Rock (Jebel Mleiha) dates back 70 million years, filled with ancient marine fossils from when the desert was a seabed. Camel Rock is a striking natural sculpture carved by wind. Both are part of Sharjah’s initiative to highlight the cultural significance of the region.
